ABOUT ME

From early memories of accompanying my mother to fabric stores in picturesque Chandigarh  where I grew up I have memories of afternoons at fabric stores, where my mom would often ask me for my opinion on the prints that she would select. She was always be fabric scouring in the afternoons. My mom designed all my clothes as ready to wear in kidswear didnot exist. I remember, she always got orders from other mom's who enquired about my dresses for their kids. Being an artist herself, she has lots of talent, which fortunately was handed over to me. She says, when she was expecting me, she envisaged Bombay (now Mumbai) and was inspired by Shobha De' - the icon of women's free voice from the late sixties and early seventies.

                        

  Then, there was Archie comics I grew up on which has hugely influenced my style sense. I love polka dots and stripes and checkered dresses, and buttons, perhaps from  my early teens devouring all Archie comic books and visual treats of my style icons - betty & veronica.

My crillion ball was in my 15th year, when I was in 10th grade, in bombay,  a green pencil skirt and pulled back gelled hair, big loop earrings and deep charcoaled eyes, which became my signature look in my teen years.  For my farewell party in school, I bought my first cage heel shoe, and thus my love affair with shoes started.

       It is when I studied and lived in Italy that I started my collectables of wardrobe staples: timeless pieces, must-haves. My personal style became more and more dominant as I scoured all over to collect bags, shoes, pants from navigli weekend markets to outlet stores and then on Via Montenapolone, now that I officially worked in fashion.

     My trademark in the past years has been my fascination with buttons. I love buttons - and thus this blog took shape, to express myself through this new fascinating medium that I am obessessed with.
